Ministry Reading
A. To pray means that we realize that we are nothing and that we can do nothing; this implies that prayer is the real denial of the self—Mark 8:34; 9:29.
Mark 8:34 And He called the crowd to Him with His disciples and said to them, If anyone wants to follow after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.
Mark 9:29 And He said to them, This kind cannot come out by any means except prayer.
B. A man of prayer must be one who seeks God and God‟s will—Matt. 26:39; John 4:34;
Matt 26:39 And going forward a little, He fell on His face and prayed, saying, My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.
John 4:34 Jesus said to them, My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work.
John 5:30 I can do nothing from Myself; as I hear, I judge, and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will but the will of Him who sent Me.
John 6:38 For I have come down from heaven not to do My own will but the will of Him who sent Me.
